Product inserter: With many e-retailers
and fulfillment businesses looking for the
right packaging automation solution that
will save time and money, Bell
and Howell has introduced the
SmartMailer. This compact
inserter, manufactured by
CMC Machinery, is designed
to assemble as many as 2,500
merchandise packages per hour. According
to the company, SmartMailer can eliminate
the time and costs of manual inserting and
is flexible enough to work with rigid mailers
as well as padded envelopes, while reducing
packaging and labeling errors.
SmartMailer’s features include rotary, shuttle, and booklet feeders for automated handling; manual-feed modules for operator
handling of variable-size items; the ability to
handle a wide range of products; real-time
tracking and selective feeding made possible
through bar-code matching; in-line printing
capability for customized mail pieces plus
labeling; and an interface with customer

Self-driving pallet truck: Seegrid Corp. has
introduced a self-driving vision-guided truck
for material handling applications. The new
vehicle, the GP8 Series 6 self-driving pallet
truck, enables fully automated material movement and hands-free load exchange from
pickup to dropoff.
In the automotive industry, the Series 6
self-driving pallet truck picks up and drops
off palletized car parts without human interaction, increasing productivity amidst labor
shortages for automakers. In e-commerce,
the Series 6 enables fully autonomous delivery
of goods to keep up with fulfillment industry
growth and demand.
Operating without wires, lasers, magnets,
or tape, the Seegrid GP8 Series 6 allows manufacturers and distributors to change routes
in-house, operate in manual mode, and scale
their fleet as they grow, the company says.

Wrap film: Protective packaging manufacturer Storopack has added AIRplus
Wrap film, a space-saving substitute for traditional air bubble film, to its portfolio.
The new product lends itself particularly well to the wrapping of delicate products,
the company says. Its flexible, wavelike structure allows items to be wrapped tightly,
which better protects fragile and delicate products of varying sizes from shocks,
scratches, and damage.
Another advantage of the new film is its on-demand production. Using Storopack’s
AIRplus Mini and AIRplus GTI machine systems, the packer can create air cushions
when needed right there at the packing station. This gives the product an edge over
