Battery management program: EnerSys has introduced the
Xinx Battery Operations Management Program, a cloud-based
optimization program for motive-power batteries. The program
consists of six main components: a data-collection system, a daily
exception report, an analyst’s services, monthly efficiency-optimi-zation plans, access to a 24/7 efficiency management portal, and
An EnerSys expert analyst provides monthly optimization
plans to customers via a 24/7 portal. In developing the plan, the
analyst examines problems and their root causes, and warns the
user what to expect if issues are left unaddressed. This information forms the basis for the recommended corrective actions.
Charger system: AeroVironment has introduced the Advanced
Connect RX system for its PosiCharge ProCore chargers. Forklift
battery charge cables can suffer wear and tear while the lift truck
is in use and from being plugged and unplugged repeatedly.
Waiting for scheduled maintenance can be risky; if they are not
properly maintained, cables can suffer damage and even melt,
which is a safety hazard.
To prevent costly damage to trucks or hazards to operators,
Connect RX monitors cable connectors during charging sessions,
shutting down the charge session and alerting the user if abnor-malities are detected. Advanced Connect RX is now a standard
feature on PosiCharge ProCore chargers. (AeroVironment, www.
Freight visibility app: CX North America Information Services
Inc. has introduced its Freight Vision Mobile App, a new product
designed to give a range of users, especially at the management
level, visibility over the status of their freight operations anytime
and anywhere. Nicknamed the “4:00 a.m. App,” the Freight
Vision Mobile App recognizes that key business activity frequently occurs outside of normal business hours. During off-hours
away from the office, managers lack connectivity to the systems
version of Freight Vision and the operations staff who provide
them with delivery status updates. The easy-to-use mobile app
fills this gap by delivering real-time status information over their
smartphones or other mobile devices on demand.
The Freight Vision Mobile App delivers information related
exclusively to drivers and shipments already in the system. It
does not, for example, allow new deliveries to be scheduled.
The Freight Vision Mobile App features a view of all orders in
progress, including total amount being delivered plus the number
of orders on time, running behind but not late, and late. Where
shipments are not being tracked, the app will so indicate.
The app also allows the user to visualize the driver’s specific
assignment, including total miles, completed miles, miles to go,
estimated trip time, pickup time, “deliver by” time, original estimated time of arrival (ETA), and current ETA. Users can also view
route and current location information, directly communicate
with a specific driver, and conduct searches within a select city
with the capability to narrow search results to a specific radius or
vehicle size and body type within a locale.
The CX North America Freight Vision Mobile App is available
for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. It
is free of charge for CX North America subscribers and companies doing business with subscribers. The app is optimized for
display on a full range of screens. (CX North America Information

Routing/scheduling solution: Paragon Software Systems Inc.
has launched the latest version of its advanced routing and
scheduling solution. Version 6.0 includes a number of enhancements across both the Planning and Paragon Live modules to
provide customers with the highest-quality transport plans and
operational insight, the company says.
Among other features, Version 6.0 is the first Paragon system
to feature the planning tool “Route Control,” which helps mitigate the impact of time-sensitive route restrictions on routing
and scheduling. This unique software functionality makes it
possible to build routes that comply with time- and day-related
local, state, and national regulations, and road closures resulting
from major public events. This will allow transport planners to
cut the time spent on manual planning and avoid unnecessary
Meanwhile, transport businesses looking to integrate their
vehicle tracking system with routing and scheduling software
can now benefit from improvements to Paragon Live, the suite
of modules designed to improve planned versus actual performance. This includes an auto-correction tool that will refine the
exact positions of delivery locations, based on actual tracking
events, to automatically improve the accuracy of plans and arrival
times communicated to customers. Enhancements to reporting
and new telematics interfaces are included as well. (Paragon
